#WCW Today we celebrate Pada Platform co-founder and Director Karen Mukwasi, Ms Kay to the girls. Karen Mukwasi is the 2025 recipient of the Weimar Human Rights Award. The Award committee recognized her for her work on women’s digital rights and inclusion, women’s digital security and her commitment to the rights of women in Africa. This is validation of our Labour of love. It is wonderful to know that someone sees us. In her speech at the Awards ceremony Karen appealed to African Leaders to prioritize citizens over power retention, to stop the war on women’s bodies and to #Silencetheguns
She appealed to feminists all over the world to speak up for African women in war torn countries such as the Congo and Sudan.

At our last feminist gathering we had the pleasure of watching and listening to historian and archivist Joyce Jenje Makwenda as she presented her research on the history of Zimbabwean women leaders in politics.
The role that women have played in liberation movements across the world is often downplayed because of patriarchal systems. As we are celebrating our 46th Independence Day let us remember to learn the role women played in the fight for freedom. Also looking to the present and future generations of leaders. #ZimAt46 #IndependenceDay #46years
